Creators, movers, shakers & change-makers hub : for all things mental health

I know, I know – you hate talking about it, you hate thinking about it, reading about it, and especially hate experiencing it.

And yet…there it is!

The thorn in our side, dog in our shadow, monster under our bed!

As high functioners, we can dance through our day looking graceful as fuck. But WE feel the bloody blisters stinging our feet. Some days we can slay regardless, and other days, we wobble. Sometimes take a stack.

Mental health concerns impact ONE in FOUR Australians sometime in their life! That is A LOT of people with sore feet!

Entertainment Assist in association with College of Arts at Victoria University have conducted some epic research studies, indicating some confronting statistics regarding rates of poor mental health within the Australian creative industries.

  • Suicide attempts for Australian Entertainment Industry workers are more than double that of the general population.
  • The levels of moderate to severe anxiety symptoms are 10 times higher than in the general population.
  • The levels of depression symptoms are five times higher than in the general population.

I grabbed these figures directly from their website, or you can read the full report here.

The toasty warm side of this stark cold pillow is…as creative thinkers, feelers, movers, makers, shakers, innovators…we have the means, tools and talents to explore the shit out of our problem inducing minds. And that’s exactly what we’re going to do here!

I’m so excited to explore, explain and expand our muddled minds through creative juiciness!

Together…as high funkers…we can normalise anxiety and depression in the creative industries by simply starting conversations and expressing our experiences.

And that starts with YOU getting comfortable with YOUR unique flavour of funk!

If you hang around, I’ll show you how 🙂
